Arduino workshop

Garrett and I went to a workshop on Arduino at metrix create:space.  For those that don’t know, an Arduino is an open-source single board microcontroller that’s programmable to do all sorts of hardware hacking projects such as a web controlled garage door opener or an electric skateboard.

The workshop was just an introduction, but it was nice to have someone to answer questions.  We went through 4 examples:

  1. Having the Arduino print “hello world” through USB and getting it displayed on the computer
  2. Blinking an LED
  3. Controlling an LED with a button
  4. Using a potentiator and having the computer display what value the potentiator is set at

The programming for the examples we did was all very simple, but I had a lot of fun doing some hardware hacking for a change.
