I posted about a month back about a couple of my coworkers using Ion3, a tiling window-manager.  It has a huge slew of keyboard shortcuts that allow for quick flipping between windows and virtual desktops.  However, it has not been under active development for a couple years now, which made me pretty hesitant to try it.  Instead, I’ve been using “awesome”.  It is, appropriately enough, pretty awesome.  All keyboard shortcuts are configurable via a lua script.  It’s very minimalistic and doesn’t package with all the things that I took for granted that Gnome took care of, though.  However, it’s fairly easy to insert plugins for things like wifi network selection and volume control.

I should really figure out how to select a wifi network with command line anyway.
