Temporary files

While reading Real Word Haskell, I read about the openTempFile function and realized I didn’t know the Python equivalent.  I haven’t had to use temporary files in Python too often, and when I have, I mostly created them using my own naming scheme.  The tempfile module has functions that create files for temporary storage which are destroyed when the file is closed.  I might go revisit some of my old code and see if I can improve on things using this.
